SICAP is the new Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme 2018-2022 and is the successor programnme to the previous iteration of SICAP 2015-2017. It was rolled out on 1st January 2018 and will run until December 2022.  SICAP is overseen by Kildare LCDC.  Following a public procurement process, a contract for the implementation of the new programme in County Kildare was awarded to County Kildare LEADER Partnership.  Kildare LCDC play an ongoing monitoring role and will inform future SICAP plans.

SICAP is a national social inclusion programme focused on the most marginalised in Irish society. It aims to tackle poverty and social exclusion through community development approaches, local engagement and partnership between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations and public sector agencies.

SICAP 2018-2022 will be informed by the LECP plan and respond to priority social inclusion issues highlighted in the county.

There are Two Programme Goals

  1. To support communities and target groups to engage with relevant stakeholders in identifying and addressing social exclusion and equality issues, developing the capacity of local community groups, and creating more sustainable communities
  2. To support disadvantaged individuals to improve the quality of their lives through the provision of lifelong learning and labour market supports;
