As part of the reform under the Local Government Reform Act 2014, local authorities are required to establish Public Participation Networks (PPN) in each local authority area. Membership is open to all community and voluntary groups and organisations active in Co. Kildare.
The PPN will be the main link through which the Council will connect with the local Community/Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environmental sectors.
Following a nomination and election process, successful candidates will be appointed to committees to Council e.g. Local Community Development Committee (LCDC/Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs). This will allow the public to take an active and direct role in policy making through their community representatives. Representation will be in accordance with Departmental Guidelines and Criteria published.
